Message
from the Chair
Welcome to the Department of Anesthesiology at UMDNJ-New Jersey
Medical School. As an integral part of this medical community, we are committed
to excellence in patient care, education, research and community service. Our
commitment to change has propelled significant transformation of the department.
We have redefined our approach to patient care, medical education and research
in order to encourage the growth of our organization to its full potential.
This is clear from our creation of a culture based on the development of our
faculty, residents and medical students. The University Hospital is the referral
center for the state's most advanced medical services and specialty care programs.
Our unique programs include:
-
Northern New Jersey's only Level I Trauma Center;
-
Orthopedic Trauma Program;
-
Regional Neonatal Intensive Care Unit;
-
The Neurological Institute of New Jersey, a federally designated spinal
cord injury center;
-
The Center for Bloodless Surgery; and
-
New Jersey's only Liver Transplant Program.
In collaboration with our colleagues throughout the University, we are building
teams to meet the expanding demands of patient care in these unique and exciting
areas. We have created an environment that supports development through education,
active interchange and teamwork. Our goals continue to be defined and refined
in the context of service to our patients, colleagues and medical community.
Please read more about the department's Residency Program in the following pages,
