Biochemistry and Molecular Biology

Education
The Graduate program in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology offers a comprehensive
program of graduate studies leading to the Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees through the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, a program for graduate students anticipating careers in basic and applied research and teaching. Joint M.D./Ph.D. and D.M.D./Ph.D. degree programs also are offered in conjunction with the New Jersey Medical School and the New Jersey Dental School, respectively. The programs include formal training in basic and advanced biochemistry and molecular
biology (through course work and lab rotation) supplemented by courses in immunology, pharmacology, statistics, and computer sciences. After successful completion of the course work, students may select an advisor for intensive thesis work, which usually begins during the second year. Details about financial aid, application for admission, and other information related to the graduate program can be found on the Graduate School home page.
