APPLICANT INFORMATION

The Emergency Medicine Residency at UMDNJ - New Jersey Medical School is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education. Thank you for your interest in our program!

 

GENERAL INFORMATION

UMDNJ - NJMS participates in the NRMP and accepts applications for the PGY-1 position. We participate in the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) match. Applications are submitted through your medical school dean's office or the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG). Please contact your medical school student affairs or dean's office or the ECFMG for instructions. Applications will not be accepted through the mail or e-mail.

APPLICATION MATERIALS

• A completed ERAS Application
• Dean's Letter
• Medical School Transcript
• Three or four letters of recommendation from clinical academic faculty, at least one emergency medicine letter - preferably more than one.
• USMLE Step 1 Transcript (We will accept COMLEX scores, but prefer USMLE for comparison purposes)
• A recent photograph (Optional, but will help us remember you)
• Personal statement

 

APPLICATION DEADLINE

Applications should be submitted before November 1st. Only completed applications will be considered for interview. Qualified applicants will be invited for interviews based on the date their application became complete. A waiting list may be used.

 

INTERVIEWS

All interviews take place at the University Hospital in Newark. Interview offers are generally made November-January, after the interview selection committee has had the opportunity to review the file including the Dean's Letter. All notification and correspondence will be via e-mail so applicants should have a reliable e-mail address and check it frequently.
