Emergency Medicine
What We Do
We have several annual events in addition to several wellness activities throughout the year.

Intern Welcome Party
An annual event, hosted by one of the attendings, to welcome the incoming intern class.

Emergency Department Holiday Party
An elegant formal affair for the entire staff of the ED, filled with fine food and dancing.

Resident Appreciation Dinner
An annual dinner for the residents to show how much the program appreciates all our hard work. This event also serves to announce the two new Chief Residents.

Graduation
Another fabulous evening, with diplomas, awards, food and drink to celebrate the graduating class.
And much more....
Aside from year round spontaneous gatherings and parties, we have gone bowling, karaoke, paint ball, skiing, gone to Coney Island, bicycled in Manhattan, attended baseball games, and held a spicy food dinner contest. We also have a monthly potluck during Grand Rounds to celebrate birthdays.
Area Highlights:
The Newark skyline
In addition to our many residency activities, there's always the surrounding local culture to explore.
The rapidly developing downtown areas of Newark provide plenty of culture and entertainment. Enjoy performances at the Newark Symphony Hall or New Jersey Performing Arts Center. Visit the beautiful art collections or the planetarium at The Newark Museum. Catch a game with the Newark Bears, a minor league baseball team, or the NJ Devils NHL team at the Prudential Arena. Dine at one of the many fabulous Portuguese or Spanish restaurants in the Iron Bound District.
If looking to escape the city life, simply drive south along the Garden State Parkway to the Jersey Shore. Explore one of the many beaches or towns, including Avalon, Cape May, Atlantic City, Spring Lake, and Long Beach Island.
Cape May, NJ
Of course, there's always the city that never sleeps, New York. Easily accessible via the PATH train, New Jersey Transit, George Washington bridge, Lincoln or Holland Tunnels. With its close proximity, plethora of things to see and do, the attraction is obvious.
