Division of Cardiology - Home

The cardiologists in this division are expert in the noninvasive, invasive, diagnostic and therapeutic methods of responding to heart problems. They are also of leaders in scientific research looking for new and better way to treat patients with diseased hearts s that they may live longer, healthy lives.

Cardiologists use a broad range of diagnostic techniques and technologies to detect heart conditions to make an accurate diagnosis. A decision about whether a patient is treated with medicine, an interventional procedure or requires surgery is usually made jointly by a cardiologist, patient’s primary care physician and a cardiac surgeon based on an assessment of the patient’s condition. This is true for scheduled treatments as well as in emergency situation .The important factors that a weighed to make this decision are the nature of the patient’s cardiac disease, their general health and whether they have other medical conditions that might impact the effectiveness of a particular medicine or procedure.

If a decision is made to treat the patient with a non-surgical intervention, this interventional procedure will be performed in one of the hospital’s specialized diagnostic and intervention labs. If surgery is required, the procedure is performed in an operating room.
