EMR in Precepting Residents (DRAFT)

2 computers teaching stations

This paired computer area is a teaching station in UMD Care. One computer is the attending physician's terminal and the other computer is the resident's terminal. UMD Care has 2 such teaching stations. Both are located within a single work room.

The work flow is as follows:

      1. Resident sees the patient in the examination room and documents the visit in the EMR.
      2. Resident joins the attending physician at a computer pair within the work room.
      3. Resident reviews all findings and all assessments concerning the patient with attending.
      4. The attending uses a separate EMR note on their computer to demonstrate appropriate references, while resident has their chart note open for review.
      5. Attending and resident evaluate patient as appropriate before signing either note.
      6. Resident signs their note, printing perscriptions in attending's name.
      7. Attending completes separate note from resident's note in EMR and signs it.
