Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA)
The American Cancer Society recommends that this blood test to measure PSA (a protein which is made by prostate cells) should be offered annually by health care providers to men 50 and older with a life expectancy of at least 10 years. Men at high risk should begin testing at age 45. At this time, the health care provider should also discuss the risks and benefits of early detection and treatment of prostate cancer.
