Division of Gastroenterology
and Hepatology
University Hospital,
Newark, NJ
Welcome to the University of Medicine
and Dentistry New Jersey/New Jersey Medical School's Gastroenterology Section.
Since its inception, the Division of Gastroenterology has continually maintained
an excellence for the treatments of digestive tract and related disorders.
Our physicians have expertise in hepatitis and other liver diseases, pancreatico-biliary
disease, nutritional disorders, inflammatory bowel disease, therapeutic endoscopy
and other disorders of the digestive tract. We have a strong commitment
to our patients, their families, and the surrounding community.
In addition to providing patient care,
the Division of Gastroenterology provides a solid foundation to academics
with clinical and basic science research. The GI division's role in
academics further identifies itself by having the largest GI fellowship program
in the state of New Jersey. Our fellows are well trained with the latest
techniques for treating digestive tract and related disorders. They
also participate in scholarly activities such as research along with fostering
growth of future physicians, medical students and residents. The training
program prepares young physicians to join colleagues in the community or in
an academic setting while providing excellent medical care and advancing the
field of gastroenterology.
Exciting times are upon us in Gastroenterology
and we hope these few pages will convey that excitement to you.
