Division Of Infectious Diseases

The Division of Infectious Diseases at The New Jersey Medical School at UMDNJ is dedicated to improving the health of our patients, performing innovative basic and clinical research, and training the next generation of leaders in infectious diseases. The Division encompasses all aspects of infectious diseases including general infectious disease, pediatric infectious disease, clinical microbiology, hospital epidemiology, AIDS, infection control, microbial pathogenesis, diagnostics, and international health. Division membership is shared with members of the UMDNJ Center for Emerging Pathogens resulting in cross-discipline clinical, teaching and research experiences. We also work closely with the Public Health Research Institute and their numerous scientists involved in HIV, tuberculosis and antibiotic research and public health. Combined with this and other UMDNJ departments, our division includes one of the largest group of clinical and basic science investigators on tuberculosis in the world. HIV care and research is another Division priority. This mission is supported by an integrated care system that spans the ID clinic, a dedicated in patient HIV ward, and a long-term care outpatient facility. Numerous opportunities also exist to gain experience in international research through a variety of ongoing research activities. |
