AREA ATTRACTIONS
The UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School is in one of the most exciting regions
of the country. Resident physicians have access to a nearly unlimited
array of indoor and outdoor activities in New Jersey and New York .
Both the Newark Performing Arts Center
and New Jersey's Meadowlands
Complex are fewer than fifteen minutes away. Among the events
that can be enjoyed at these sites are major concerts and family shows;
harness and thoroughbred racing; and professional football, hockey,
soccer and basketball.
The state features a 127-mile stretch of white sand beaches, wildlife
preserves, amusements, and boardwalks. The northwestern region
has beautiful lakes and mountain recreation areas. Bucolic central
New Jersey hosts national and international equestrian events and two
large annual balloon festivals. The PNC
Arts Center in Holmdel showcases classical, pop, rock and roll,
country, comedy and dance performances. History buffs enjoy New
Jersey 's many museums, historic sites and trails.
New York City is just minutes from Newark and can be reached easily
by public transportation. New York is world renown for its excitement,
diversity, and enterprise. Its attractions include museums, theaters,
professional and collegiate sporting events, concert halls and cultural
