Message from the Chair

The Department of Neurological Surgery provides neurosurgical care at the highest levels of technological and surgical accomplishments. For many years, complex neurosurgical cases in New Jersey were referred to university centers in New York and Philadelphia. We have created a New Jersey neurosurgical center comparable to university centers anywhere in the world.

Providing the highest level of neurosurgical care requires a highly subspecialized neurosurgical effort. Specialized programs in pediatric neurosurgery, spinal surgery, skull base surgery, peripheral nerve surgery, vascular neurosurgery and trauma have permitted the realization of this goal. Our emphasis on high technology has been recognized by the industry, and the department is a development site for major computer, microscope and instrument manufacturers, ensuring that we remain on the advanced edge of neurosurgical developments.
