Dr. Guillem Lomas is an Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic
Surgery at UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School. He specializes in Arthroscopic Surgery,
Ligament and Tendon Reconstructions and Sports Related Injuries.
Dr. Lomas completed his undergraduate studies at Yale University and received
his medical degree from Columbia University, College of Physicians and Surgeons
in New York City. He completed his Orthopaedic Surgery residency training
at the New York Orthopaedic Hospital of Columbia University. Following this,
he underwent additional Sports Medicine Fellowship training at the Kerlan-Jobe
Orthopaedic Clinic in Los Angeles, CA where he participated in the care of the
Los Angeles Dodgers, the 2009 World Champion Los Angeles Lakers basketball team,
the Los Angeles Kings and Anaheim Ducks professional hockey teams, the Los Angeles
Sparks women’s basketball team, and served as an assistant team physician
for Loyola-Marymount University NCAA Division I sports teams.
Dr. Lomas specializes in the management of athletic injuries requiring open or
arthroscopic surgery. He has published several peer reviewed articles and
textbook chapters on topics ranging from shoulder and elbow to knee surgery. His
areas of expertise include ligament reconstruction, tendon repair, cartilage transplantation
of the knee and arthroscopy of the hip, shoulder, elbow and ankle.
