The pediatric residency is non-pyramidal with approximately
forty-five residents divided equally among the residency levels and two PL-4
Chief Residents. It is generally expected that residents who join the program
will remain for three years. The program is carried out at the two principal
hospitals, University Hospital and Hackensack University Medical Center. There
is also a one-month rotation in Community Pediatrics at nearby St. Michael's
Medical Center in Newark during the second and third year.
Residents rotate through all pediatric services at both major
hospitals during the three years, spending approximately two-thirds of total
training time at University and one-third at Hackensack.
