Research Methods

We use a variety of electrophysiological and imaging techniques (single and two-photon confocal imaging, digital photometry, UV-laser flash photolysis of caged compounds). We also employ a number of  biochemical and molecular methods.

Intracellular Imaging and Photometry

Confocal Imaging

Video-Rate Confocal Imaging

Bio-Rad Radiance 2000 and FluoView FV1000 confocal scanners

Yokogawa SCU confocal scanner with XR Mega GENIII+ICCD (Solamere Technology Inc.)

Multi-Photon Confocal Imaging

Photometry

Bio-Rad Radiance 2100MP confocal scanner with Mira-Verdi(10W) duo from coherent

Ratio-Master M-40 high speed fluorescence photometer (PTI, Inc.) and TILL imaging system

Electrophysiology

  • Patch-clamp
  • Field stimulation

 Cell preparations

  • Single skeletal muscle fibers from EDL, FDB and soleus muscles of rat and mouse
  • Isolated ventricular myocytes, ventricular strips, intact hearts preparation
