Medical Courses

The medical teaching programs in the department are designed to combine
a core of basic knowledge with an understanding
of fundamental principles. Courses in Physiology and Pharmacology include clinical
correlation sessions to connect lecture and reading material to the practice
of clinical medicine and dentistry. A combined M.D./Ph.D.
program is also offered. In addition, opportunities exist for
students and clinicians who wish to pursue research related to any of
our Faculty Research Interests . The
department is strongly committed to its educational role at all levels,
and strives to integrate top quality research with excellence in education.
Medical
Physiology 
This course is designed to provide first year
medical students with knowledge of human physiology. Cell physiology and
systems physiology are taught. The course includes lectures, clinical
correlations, laboratory exercises and small- group conferences.
Medical Pharmacology
This course prepares the second year medical student for the
rational and safe use of drugs in the control, prevention and therapy
of human disease. It includes the presentation of general principles of
pharmacology and fundamental information on various classes of pharmacological
agents. |
