UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School provides a comprehensive benefit package.

Salary:

PGY-2:     $48,201
PGY-3:     $51,152
PGY-4:     $54,139
(chief residents get an annual supplement of $2,700)

Benefits:

All residents have access to health insurance, a prescription drug program, dental care
program, temporary disability insurance, and life insurance.  Professional liability insurance
covers all activities that are part of the residency program.

An annual book allowance of $300 per year is provided to each resident.

All incoming residents will be paid a one-time sum of $400 if attending orientation
in the last week of June.

All residents who present at a conference will be entitled to reimbursement
for travel, registration, lodging, and food.

Senior residents and fellows are encouraged to attend to Kessler Annual Board Review Course
free of charge. 

Time off policy:

All residents get 4 weeks of paid vacation, and 9 official University Holiday days.

All residents get an additional three "comp days" off, including their birthday.

All residents are eligible to take family leave for illness in their family (up to 12 weeks off unpaid) and maternity leave (up to 12 weeks off unpaid).

Residents may take three days paid leave to take the USMLE Step 3.

All residents may take up to 12 days of paid sick leave per year.

Educational resources:

The medical library is accessible remotely, and has a large collection of electronic books and journals.

MD Consult is free to all residents. Up-to-Date is also available, at a special discount price.

All didactic courses have handouts provided.  Incoming residents are given the binders from the prior year's Board Review Course which contain all the course handouts.

All residents are assigned a faculty mentor to provide guidance throughout their residency.  A list a research mentors
is also available to help residents choose projects.
