  4. Each year since 1989, 100% of our residents who have taken Part I of the PM&R board exam in the year of graduation have passed on their first attempt. This compares with a national first-time pass rate on the Part I exam given in May 2002 of only 85%

  6. The Kessler Foundation���s Joel A. DeLisa, MD Award for Excellence in Research and Education in the Field of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation was announced in 2010.  This award will be presented annually for the next 20 years to a physician and/or scientist who has demonstrated a significant impact on the field of PM&R, particularly as it related to the translation of research and education to patient care.  One annual award will be presented in the amount of $50,000. 

  7. In October 2011, Dr. DeLisa was elected into membership of the Institute of Medicine (IOM) of the National Academies.

  8. The Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) Board of Directors has confirmed Dr. Susan Garstang���s appointment to the AGGME  Review Committee for Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
