Core Facility |
| Introduction |
The Biostatistics Laboratory, located within the
Department of Preventive Medicine & Community Health, New Jersey Medical
School (NJMS) provides a home for biostatisticians located within NJMS.
It provides services to medical and clinical researchers located primarily
at the New Jersey Medical School, but also generally within the Northern
New Jersey area. Current areas of biostatistical expertise include design
of experiments, linear models, non-linear models, multivariate analysis,
epidemiologic studies and large databases, clinical trials, categorical
data analysis, longitudinal methods, survival analysis and other applications
of statistics in medicine. Expertise is also available in the area of
spatial analysis (GPS, GIS based data). |

Dr. Michael Brimacombe, Associate Professor of Biostatistics
and Epidemiology within the Department of Preventive Medicine, New Jersey
Medical School - UMDNJ, serves as Director of the Biostatistics Laboratory.
Dr. Brimacombe has extensive expertise in clinical and medical applications
of biostatistics as well as being a funded researcher in public health
and birth defect areas. |

External collaborations form a portion of the work
conducted in the Biostatistics Laboratory. They often follow established
collaborative links with other health related enterprises including the
many private and public-private enterprises active in pharmaceutical development
in Northern New Jersey. |
Advisory Board
|
An advisory board comprised of senior NJMS clinicians
active in research, GCRC representatives, Department of Preventive Medicine,
NJMS representatives overviews the activities of the Center and helps
guide the development of collaborative relationships with health researchers
across Northern New Jersey. |
Fee Structure
|
Suggested fee structure is $100/hour
for projects originating outside NJMS. Projects internal to NJMS are subject
to negotiation.
