Clinical Assignments
PGY-1
The Department believes in the importance of a psychiatrist maintaining a medical as well as psychological perspective. All rotations meet Residency Review Committee and American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology requirements. An admitting team concept which permits residents to follow a patient from the initial emergency room contact through intensive inpatient evaluation and treatment is stressed on all services. Residents are assigned to rotations in:
Medicine/Pediatrics
Inpatient Psychiatry
Neurology

PGY-2
Refining diagnostic skills and mastering differential therapeutics are major objectives in the second year. Residents also begin to translate these skills into the assessment and treatment of patients in the outpatient setting.

SUPERVISION
Each resident receives a minimum of two hours per week of individual, on-site supervision throughout all four years of training. Additional specialty supervision is encouraged and provided.
