Clinical Services
Chitra Malur, M.D. is Assistant Chief
of Service in the Department of Psychiatry. Outpatient clinical services are
provided for adults of all ages and children and adolescents through the Department's
Faculty Practice ambulatory care services. Acute care services are provided
at University Hospital
Out-Patient:
Department of Psychiatry Faculty provide
psychiatric and psychological consultation and services in the Behavioral Health
Sciences Building (in Room E-1547) on the Newark Campus (973-972-2977) and at
the satellite practice: Maplewood
Psychiatric Associates, 111 Dunnell Road, Maplewood 07040, 973-761-7134.
Practitioners have a wide range of expertise in psychiatry.
Acute Care:
University Hospital Psychiatric Emergency
Services (973-972-6134) provide acute care in a 6 bed emergency psychiatry unit.
In coordination with the Screening Center, staffed by University Behavioral
Health Care, psychiatric physicians determine the need for stabilization and
hospitalization.
Inpatient psychiatric services are
provided at UH on the 34 -bed G Yellow unit where multi-disciplinary treatments
teams provide a full range of psychiatric treatment.
Consultation Liason:
The UH Psychiatry Consultation Liaison
Service provides consultation to the medical and surgical teams at UH.
Neuropsychologists provide assessments
and testing for a wide range of patients with learning disabilities, traumatic
brain injury, epilepsy and other disorders.
Centers:
The Autism Center (973-972-3818)
and the Huntington's Disease Center (973-972-2977) are multi-disciplinary
centers where psychiatrists join with neurologists, pediatricians, and geneticists
to provide comprehensive, one-stop care.
