Continuity Practice

Residents attend Continuity Practice one full day each week during most of the three-year program. During rotations to the critical care units or as inpatient team leader, the assignment to Continuity Practice is one half-day per week. Each continuity team is comprised of five to six residents and a member of the ambulatory attending staff. Residents provide primary care to panels of 100-150 patients each, adding to their panels as they rotate through all inpatient and outpatient services. With the aid of the recently installed continuity practice computers, residents are assured a wide diversity of patients with respect to age, diagnosis and chronicity of illness.
