Cardiothoracic Surgery

The Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery encompasses both clinical and academic programs at each of the affiliated hospitals. General Surgery residents participate in pulmonary, esophageal, mediastinal, chest wall and diaphragmatic surgery and treat both pediatric and adult patients with cardiovascular disorders. Special areas of expertise in open heart surgery include minimally invasive and off pump coronary artery bypass surgery, and aortic root replacement. Thymic tumors, tracheal reconstruction and video assisted thoracic surgical procedures represent areas of general thoracic surgery experience.
