Minimally Invasive Surgey
The Division of Laparoscopy and Minimally Invasive Surgery takes a unique "aptitude" approach to the teaching of those skills necessary for surgical residents to master videosurgery. Beginning with basic surgical principals, like suture and needle selection, residents will build to advanced intracorporal knot tying and stapling by the end of the third clinical year. Residents are encouraged to make use of the on-site inanimate laboratory facilities and animate laboratory facilities provided by corporate sponsorship located approximately 30 minutes away. This foundation will allow residents to take full advantage of the clinical rotations during their senior years.
