Welcome to the Office of Graduation Medical Education Web site. The Office of Graduate Medical Education is the central administrative office for UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School (NJMS), UMDNJ-New Jersey Dental School (NJDS) and University Hospital-sponsored residency and fellowship programs.

Working in coordination with a network of affiliated hospitals, NJMS and NJDS provide the educational and clinical resources for an extensive residency training system. These programs provide the clinical education of medical and dental students, as well as clinical research opportunities and comprehensive primary and specialty care experiences.

In total, NJMS, NJDS and University Hospital sponsor 48 residency and fellowship programs. All programs provide clinical experiences at University Hospital-Newark, NJMS affiliated hospitals, ambulatory care centers and an academic health sciences center involved in clinical and basic science research.

The GME office is responsible for a variety of essential administrative functions for residents and fellows, including the maintenance of permanent records, credentialing, processing payroll and loan deferments. The office also ensures that accreditation requirements, UMDNJ policies, resident contracts, Committee for Interns and Residents (CIR) and New Jersey State Board of Medical Examiners requirements are adhered to by all programs.
