Dean Johnson Joins Bill Cosby at Seminar on Violence

New Jersey Medical School Interim Dean Robert L. Johnson, M.D., FAAP recently took part in a seminar on violence hosted by actor, comedian and educator William Cosby, Jr., Ed.D. The seminar, held at Temple University in Philadelphia , focused on the behavioral and emotional effects of violence on children and teachers.

During the seminar, Dr. Cosby explored the experiences faced by students and teachers who live and work in violent communities. Dr. Johnson was on hand to answer questions posed by Dr. Cosby and members of the audience, which consisted of more than 100 educators, administrators and students. Also in attendance were Temple University 's President Ann Weaver Hart; Temple 's College of Education Dean C. Kent McGuire and Dr. Trish Jones, a professor at Temple 's College of Education .

Dr. Johnson, a professor of pediatrics and psychiatry, is well-recognized as an expert on adolescent issues, including adolescent violence. In addition to his active schedule of teaching, conducting research and maintaining a clinical practice, Dr. Johnson also serves as Director of the Division of Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine at NJMS.
