Carol Newlon, PhD, Professor and Chair of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics, has been elected to the American Association for the Advancement of Science and is now a fellow of the organization. She is the first faculty member at NJMS to receive this honor. Each year, the AAAS Council elects members whose "efforts on behalf of the advancement of science or its applications are scientifically or socially distinguished." Dr. Newlon's work in the analysis of structure-function relationships in yeast origins of DNA replication earned her this distinction. She will be honored at the AAAS's annual meeting in San Francisco in February.
