Frank Liporace, MD, of the department of Orthopaedics, received the Zimmer Orthopaedic Career Development Award. He was one of just seven physicians in the country to receive the award, which supports orthopaedic surgeons who are early in their careers and pursuing further training or investigation.

The awards are designed to help develop the next generation of orthopaedic leaders by supporting surgeons who have a clinical or scientific interest in total joint surgery and trauma-related fracture treatment.

Dr. Liporace specializes in the treatment of complex fractures, peri-articular fractures, pelvic and acetabular surgery and post-traumatic reconstructive procedures. His areas of interest include biomechanical analysis of fracture fixation, outcome studies after fracture fixation and pain management after orthopaedic surgery.

He was recognized at the annual meeting of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons held in San Diego, CA .
