New
Jersey Medical School, the City of Newark and HOT 97 radio joined together
to encourage teens to stay in school during a live radio broadcast of
the HOT 97 show "Street Soldiers" on Sunday, November 12.
Close to 300 invited teens from the city of Newark participated in the
live call-in show hosted by Lisa Evers during which panelists Stephon
Marbury of the NY Knicks, Newark Mayor Corey Booker, and writer Tai Beauchamp
stressed the importance of education in achieving success as an adult.
Representatives from a number of programs located at the UMDNJ Newark
campus, joined representatives from other community based organizations
during an information fair held prior to the 9 p.m. broadcast. According
to Robert L. Johnson, MD, Interim Dean of NJMS, the event captured the
true spirit of collaboration that has been critical in forging a strong
partnership between NJMS and the City of Newark. View a news clip
