Cathedral Healthcare System: Columbus Hospital Individuals and families of Columbus Hospital and St. Michael's Medical Center's Obstetrics/Gynecology services are seen for genetic counseling for a variety of indications: advanced maternal age, family history of a genetic disorder, carriers of genetic disorders, and abnormal prenatal testing. A genetic counselor is on-site one day per week. Individuals in need of a clinical geneticist consultation are referred to the Center for Human and Medical Genetics in Newark. Individuals in need of a clinical geneticist consultation and/or genetic counseling services are referred to the Center for Human and Molecular Genetics in Newark. Individuals or their physicians can request an appointment for genetic services. Hackensack University Medical Center The Genetics and Genetics Counseling Program was established in 1975. It's goal is to provide comprehensive genetics services to the Northern New Jersey area. It is affiliated with the Center for Human and Molecular Genetics of UMDNJ in Newark, NJ. Genetic screening, counseling and referrals are available to individuals and families of the multiple NHCAC Health Centers. Genetic services are available three days per week for women who attend the Prenatal and Family Planning clinics. Individuals and families (Adult and Pediatric) in need of genetic services are referred to the Genetics clinic held at the North Bergen site. North Jersey Developmental Center The North Jersey Developmental Center provides education and training, speech and hearing therapy, includes pre-vocational and vocational programs, support services and a full range of medical services which includes clinical geneticist consultation and evaluation. The North Jersey Developmental Center services individuals with developmental disabilities, including mental retardation and autism. Trinitas Hospital - Women's Health Center Genetic screening, counseling and referrals are available to individuals and families who attend the Obstetrics/Gynecology, Adult Medicine and Pediatric clinics of Trinitas Hospital. The counselor is on-site one day per week. Individuals in need of clinical geneticist evaluation are referred to the Center for Human and Molecular Genetics in Newark.
