Name: Beth Arbeitel, M.S.
Title: Certified Genetic Counselor
Background: Ms. Arbeitel graduated from Bloomsburg State College
(now Bloomsburg University) with a BA in Biology in 1981. She went on to pursue
a degree in Medical Technology from Monmouth Medical Center (1982) before completing
graduate studies at the University of Pittsburgh (M.S. Hygiene 1985). Board
Certification was earned in 1987.
Ms. Arbeitel began her career in NYC working for the Prenatal
Diagnostic Laboratory of NYC until 1986. She was employed at Morristown Memorial
Hospital until 1989 before accepting a position at NMG Genetic Services. She
remained employed through this company which was bought by Genetrix and then
Genzyme until 1998 when she returned to Morristown Memorial Hospital. In December
2002 she accepted a genetic counseling position at UMDNJ - Center for Human
and Molecular Genetics.
Professional Interests and Activities: Ms. Arbeitel has been
involved with both prenatal as well as pediatric counseling with a special interest
in genetic disorders in the developmentally disabled population.
