Gokce A Toruner, MD, PhD Assistant Professor of Pediatrics
Background
Gokce Toruner received his M.D. in 1996 from the Hacettepe University,
Turkey and went on to complete a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology and Genetics from
Bilkent University in 2001. He did his post-doctoral training in Center for
Human and Molecular Genetics, UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School
Dr. Toruner joined the faculty of the New Jersey Medical School
in 2004, first, as an Instructor then in 2007 became an Assistant Professor
in the Dept. of Pediatrics.
Professional Interests and Activities
Dr. Toruner's major areas of interest are human molecular genetics
and impact of copy number variations on the manifestation of human diseases. He
has published studies on bladder cancer, Rett's syndrome, Rheumatoid arthritis,
oral cancer and mental retardation. He is currently working on molecular basis
of sudden infant death syndrome, chondrosarcomas and malignant transformation
of uterine leiomyomas
