Name: Shirley-Mae Smith, MBA, JD Background: Shirley Smith received a Bachelor of Science degree and in 1966, a Master in Business Administration from the University of California at Los Angeles. She was employed by Pacific Telephone in San Francisco and later at AT&T in New York City as a manager with experience in budgets, sales, personnel, system design, training development and accounting. In 1981 Ms. Smith graduated from Rutgers Law School in Newark, New Jersey. She was in a private law practice specializing in real estate transactions until 1993. Ms. Smith became the Business Manager for the New Jersey Medical School's Center for Human and Molecular Genetics in 1993. She is responsible for all phases of personnel, fiscal, computer network, administrative and support functions for the multi site genetic center. Professional Interests and Activities: Ms. Smith's major interests are the reimbursement of genetic services, ethics and genetics, and health care privacy issues. |
