Name: Kayon T. Williams, MS
Title: Certified Genetic Counselor
Background: Ms. Williams received her B.A. in Psychology at
Rutgers University in 1998. She then went on to receive a master's degree in
master's degree in Genetic Counseling from The Mount Sinai School of Medicine
in 2003. She earned her certification from the American Board of Genetic Counseling
in 2005.
Ms. Williams has been with UMDNJ genetic center since 2005.
She is involved in prenatal, pediatric, and adult genetics at the New Jersey
Medical School campus in Newark , NJ . In addition, Ms. Williams works as a
genetic counselor in the center's outreach program and is the coordinator of
the Neurofibromatosis Center of NJ. She also specializes in cancer genetic counseling,
and provides Cancer Risk Assessment and Genetic Counseling. Language: Moderate
ability in communicating with patients in oral and written Spanish.
Professional Interests and Activities: Ms. Williams' major area
of interest is in cancer genetics, and the appropriate provision of cancer genetic
services to patients. She is an active member of the Cancer Special Interest
Group of the National Society of Genetic Counselors (NSGC), and a member of
the American Society of Human Genetics .
