The Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences at Newark is one of only 47 programs nationwide selected to receive funding from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation. As a program with a proven track record of accepting minority students, GSBS is eligible for funding, which provides Sloan Foundation students with additional funds (up to $30,000) during the course of their studies. In 2008-2009 GSBS matriculated four minority students and five more students have entered the 2009-2010 class. Currently, there are 25 minority students enrolled in all phases of doctoral programs.
