Effective Proposal Writing Strategies– BIOC5012

The primary objective of this course is to provide the basics and fundamentals of “Proposal Writing” to second year students so that they may acquire the requisite skills/training to develop a proposal for their qualifying exams.  The course is designed in an interactive format. The students develop a proposal which is based on a model abstract, review article or published literature, after they have done some critical and creative thinking of the specific literature under consideration.  In addition, students are provided an overview of the various funding agencies, proposal format of agencies such as NIH, NSF and NJCCR, review criteria and review process. The students also participate in critique writing and responding to the critique.
