I. Installation Process
To use Meditrek on your Pocket PC (PPC for short), first you need to connect your PPC to the internet. Then you need to download and install SuperWaba, then Meditrek itself. After
you enter your case logs on your PPC, you will be able to upload the data directly to the web server.
Installing the Program
A. SuperWaba
SuperWaba is a portable subset of Java that has been optimized for use on devices with small screens. This is required to enable your PPC to run Meditrek. You have to install it on your PPC during the INITIAL SETUP ONLY. All web related steps refer to your PPC.
For installation click here (Have your Meditrek login ready.)
B. Meditrek
These steps should be repeated each time you UPGRADE MEDITREK, or when you install a new SCHEDULE (third year medical students ONLY). If you just installed SuperWaba, please jump directly to step 4. If you are installing a new schedule, please skip step 4. All web related steps refer to your PPC.
- Connect your PPC to the internet, then start Internet Explorer on your PPC.
- Go to https://www.meditrek.com/njms/pda.htm (you will need to login.)
- Log in using your Meditrek username and password, then click the Pocket PC link.
- Select from the list one of the MeditrekInstall...CAB files, according to the processor type of your PPC, and your grade level. When you tap on the CAB file, it will install automatically on your PPC. During installation a new 'Meditrek' folder will be created under the 'SuperWaba' folder, and under Programs the Meditrek icon will be displayed.
- Third year medical students ONLY - Install the schedule by clicking on MeditrekScheduleInstall.cab (date). You will need to update the schedule prior to the start of every new rotation.
C. Uploading your logs
Your web-enabled PPC and Meditrek (Version 2.8 and above) allow you to upload your logs to the web server directly from your PPC. To initiate the upload please follow the steps listed below. These steps should be repeated each time you UPLOAD YOUR LOGS. All web related steps refer to your PPC.
- Connect your PPC to the internet.
- Start Meditrek, and tap the 'Meditrek v2.8' label on the top of the screen.
- Select 'Manage records...' from the list.
- Check if the records on the display are correct.
- Click the 'Upload All to Web' button, and follow the instructions on your screen.
- You can confirm and upload as well as manage (view & edit) your uploaded records via Meditrek through a regular web browser running on a laptop or desktop PC. (Use the Registered User Login link on www.meditrek.com )
- After confirming that the upload was successful, use the Delete All command on the File menu (or the
Delete All... button under Manage Records) to clear the data file on your PDA.
D. Removing & Reinstalling
If for any reason you need to reinstall Meditrek, follow these steps.
- Go to Start | Settings | System | Remove Programs, highlight and remove Meditrek first, then SuperWaba.
- Go to Start | File Explorer, and from under My Device delete the SuperWaba folder.
- If your data file on your PPC contains good records, you should establish the link between your PPC and host PC, and using Windows Explorer of your host PC, copy Mobile Device/My Pocket PC/My Documents/MediTrekData.dat over to your host PC, then send it via email to our address, support@HSoft.org. If you have no records to save, or you saved them already, on your PPC go to My Device/My Documents and delete MediTrekData.dat.
- Proceed with the installation of SuperWaba and Meditrek as described at the top of this page, Sections A and B.
