Requirements
The only setup information you will need is your Meditrek login ID and password.
I. Installation Summary
Installation is comprised of two steps, downloading the Superwaba and installing the Meditrek case log program on the Palm device. If you are a third-year student, you will also need to install a schedule file.
Typical Installation
The steps below are for typical installation; your exact steps may differ slightly, depending on your Palm's configuration. For more information, please consult the documentation or help files that came with your PDA.
Installation Steps:
A.SuperWaba
SuperWaba is a portable subset of Java that has been optimized for use on devices with small screens. This is required to enable your Palm to run Meditrek. It needs to be installed only once, during initial setup
B. Meditrek
The Meditrek Case Log program also has two versions, one for Class 3, and one for Classes 1 and 2. It needs to be re-installed only if the version changes, either because you changed classes, or because we issued an upgrade. Both versions of the program consist of three files, Meditrek.prc, Meditrek.pdb, and ICD9Data.pdb. Please note that the latter is a very large file; please be patient when downloading and installing it.
C. Third-Year Schedule
Third-year students only: you will need to update the schedule before the start of every new rotation. The schedule is a single file called MeditrekSchedule.pdb (date).
II. Uploading your Logs
Your web-enabled Palm and Meditrek allow you to upload your logs to the web server directly from your Palm. How often you need to upload will depend on several factors (such as the number of patients you see and the capacity of your PDA), but we strongly suggest you do so at least weekly, and/or after entering a large batch of logs.
