Volunteer

Performing a research project is a great way to obtain valuable experience in a clinical or laboratory setting.   Many students decide to volunteer to gain research experience while making their decision to enter medical school.  Other students may need to fulfill an undergraduate research requirement.  Whatever the case may be, participating as a volunteer research student during the summer will provide you immeasurable knowledge and skills.

Volunteer students may participate in the concluding poster session event and may also submit an abstract for inclusion in the annual Summer Student Abstract Booklet.

Eligibility:

  • Must have a commitment from a UMDNJ-NJMS Faculty Member
  • Must complete the UMDNJ required background and disclosure form

A list of volunteer projects is posted below. Volunteer positions can also be independently arranged by students.  A directory of UMDNJ-NJMS faculty can be found on the NJMS website.

Required Forms:

1.  UMDNJ Background Check

2.  UMDNJ Criminal Background Check

3.  Disclosure and Authorization Form

NOTE: Forms not required for UMDNJ students.

All required forms must be completed and returned six (6) weeks prior to anticipated start date for processing.  Completed forms should be sent to:
